For those that live on the Baseball field the old song about mother's telling us that there would be days like this clearly applied to last night’s loss to Briar Woods. Senior Jordan Taylor set the stage for the Falcon offense in his first AB ripping a double to right center on the 10th pitch of the AB. Junior Kyle Higgins followed with a frozen rope right at the Briar Woods First Basemen, who doubled Taylor off Second. The Falcon's hammered the ball all night, but the ball found ways to hop, skip and find base runners as the baseball Gods conspired to hold them to 5 runs on 10 hits. With a 5-2 lead going into the top of the 6th, it looked as though the boys from Fauquier would prevail anyway. In the top of the 6th, as the temperature plummeted and the wind increased Junior Max Winn struggled to find the strike zone and the Falcon outfielders fought to come up with wind battered baseballs allowing Briar Woods to score 5 runs to take a 7-5 lead that they would not relinquish.
Fauquier takes a misleading 3-3 record into Spring Break and District play where the surging offense and previously superb pitching and defense should make them a team to be reckoned with.

Falcons Varsity Fall 2-1 in Opener
The Fauquier Falcon Varsity Baseball team fell 2-1 tonight to Easternview High School. The Falcon's had strong pitching performances from Juniors Max Winn and Garrett Crosson and kept Easternview batters off balance and off the base paths all night. The Falcon's offense struggled to produce the timely hit and score runs even though they had runners in scoring position in almost every inning. Junior Kyle Higgins scored the only Falcon run on an RBI fly ball by Senior Robbie King in the 5th.
The Falcon's will host Skyline in their home opener on Wednesday night at Athey Field where they hope to add strong offensive production to tonight's strong defensive performance. First pitch at 6:00 pm.
